CTOC celebrates OCA’s ‘Asian Games for All’ campaign

New Taipei City, Chinese Taipei, May 9, 2026: The three elements of the Olympic Council of Asia’s “Asian Games for All” campaign were celebrated in New Taipei City on Saturday, May 9.

The Asian Games Fun Run, Asian Youth Reporter Program and Children’s Art Competition provided a morning of family fun and festivities under the umbrella of the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee.

The CTOC combined the 3km Asian Games Fun Run with the 10km Olympic Day Run and the two events attracted a total of 800 runners of all ages.

A special guest at the event was Melody Wu Jo Hsuan, a 21-year-old student in international sports affairs. Melody was among nine finalists at the Asian Youth Reporter Programme the previous day and her essay “My Asian Games” was voted the best among the students, who had advanced to the finals from an original entry of over 100 young writers.

Melody will now be invited to the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from September 19 to October 4 as part of the OCA media team.

“As a former athlete, this was a very meaningful experience for me, and I truly appreciated the opportunity to learn from a different perspective beyond competition itself,” said Melody, a former taekwondo player.

“Thank you again OCA for creating such a valuable opportunity for young people who are passionate about sports.”

The third element of the “Asian Games for All” campaign was the Children’s Art Competition, and some of the award-winning efforts were displayed in a kiosk at the venue in the events park by the landmark Fuzhou Bridge.

Under the title “Painting a Dream for the Asian Games”, the competition for elementary school students attracted 1,092 entries. From these there were two awards of excellence, 10 awards of merit, 20 honorary mentions and 20 selection awards in both the junior and senior grade groups – a total of 104 winning entries, of which were 24 were on public display.

The art work depicted the spirit and the passion of the Asian Games in a variety of sports such as baseball, football and volleyball and really impressed visitors with their colour and vibrancy. The award-winning students received their prizes on the big stage following the fun run.

The runners were welcomed to the event by the President of the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee, Mr. Chia-Fu Tsai. He was joined on stage by the OCA Director of Media and Broadcast, Mr. Jeans Zhou Jian, and the Acting Director General of Asian Games organising committee AINAGOC, Mr. Yasuhiro Nakamori.

On the conclusion of the morning’s festivities, Mr. Zhou said: “The OCA would like to thank the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee for their efforts and their wonderful organisation and implementation of the ‘Asian Games for All’ campaign.

“We saw all three elements on display today – the Asian Games Fun Run, the Youth Reporter Programme and the Children’s Art Competition. It was a morning of celebration and fun for all the family. We are sure that everyone will support the Chinese Taipei athletes at the Asian Games.”
