Thimphu, Bhutan, May 5, 2026: The Sports in School project initiated by the Bhutan Olympic Committee in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and Skills Development has been expanded to include school communities in the east of the country.
The project will now move to three schools in eastern Bhutan – Panbang Primary School in Zhemgang Dzongkhag, Ngalam Lower Secondary School in Pema Gatshel Dzongkhag and Minjey Middle Secondary School in Lhuentse Dzongkhag.
“This expansion highlights the ongoing efforts to develop sports at the grassroots level and support students across different regions of the country,” the Bhutan Olympic Committee posted.
The collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the BOC reflects a continued effort to make sports a regular and valued part of school life. By gradually expanding and strengthening the programme, the initiative is helping build a strong foundation for the future while also supporting students in learning new skills and gaining confidence.
