Doha, Qatar, May 4, 2026: The Olympic Council of Asia has thanked Qatar Airways for the part they played in making sure all 45 National Olympic Committees were able to compete at the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China.

In a social media post, the OCA said: “Every medal carries a journey. From the tracks and beaches of Sanya - to home.

“We thank Qatar Airways for safely flying our athletes from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman back where they belong.”

The post features a video of the homeward journey of the champions, the presentation of a celebratory cake and spectacular action from the Asian Beach Games, which ran from April 22-30.

“OCA x Qatar Airways - Going Places Together,” the post concludes.

During a press conference towards the end of the ABG, OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam said it was the “duty and responsibility” of the OCA to make sure all athletes could attend, despite circumstances back home.

He described Sanya 2026 as the “Peace Games”, and said the OCA would be ready to repeat these humanitarian efforts if the situation dictated in the build-up towards the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan this September.
