AWF announces entry list for Asian weightlifting championships

Gandhinagar, India, May 4, 2026: The Asian Weightlifting Federation has announced the official start list for the 2026 Asian Senior Weightlifting Championships in Gandhinagar, India from May 9-17.

 

The field of 172 athletes is packed with Olympic and world champions, guaranteeing top-level competition throughout the weight categories.

 

“The stage is set. The names are in. The battle begins,” the AWF posted on social media.

“A total of 172 elite athletes from 28 nations are ready to compete — bringing together Olympic champions, world champions and rising stars of Asian weightlifting. 

“This is more than a competition…it’s a clash of the continent’s strongest.

“From record-breaking performances to career-defining moments, Gandhinagar is ready to witness history.”

Off the platform, key meetings will shape the future of the sport, as leaders gather to discuss the road to the 2028 Olympic Games and beyond.

“All eyes on the platform. All strength on display,” the post concluded.

Gandhinagar is the capital of the state of Gujarat.
