Baghdad, Iraq, May 3, 2026: The Gender Equity Committee of the National Olympic Committee of Iraq, headed by Chairperson Leila Mohamed Amin, visited a number of NOC branches in the provinces to see the ground reality of female participation in sport.
Mrs. Leila Amin and her team visited the provinces of Duhok, Nineveh and Salahuddin with the aim of getting a first-hand view and of supporting and advancing women’s sports in each province.
She said a detailed report on the visit, highlighting the challenges faced, would be submitted to the President of the Iraq NOC, Dr. Aqeel Muften. She also thanked the NOC President for his significant role in supporting women’s sports in the country.
Mrs. Leila Amin was accompanied on the trip by Mrs. Ishtar Ali, advisor to the NOC President, and Mr. Muhammad Ayman, Financial Secretary to the Gender Equity Committee.
