Team HKG gears up for Asian Games

Sanya, China, May 1, 2026: The Sanya 2026 Asian Beach Games concluded on the evening of Thursday, April 30 and the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China is now gearing up for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan this September.

Yuen Ching Suet, silver medalist in the Foil Windsurfing Girls, served as the flag bearer of the Hong Kong, China delegation at the closing ceremony at Yasha Park.

Team Hong Kong, China brought home two silver medals and one bronze medal to finish in 15th place in the final medal rankings. The SF&OC extends heartfelt gratitude to all athletes and the teams for their dedication and hard work.

Mr. Yeung Wing Sun, Vice-President of SF&OC and Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong, China delegation to Sanya 2026, said that the athletes gained valuable experience at the ABG, helping them improve both technically and mentally for the competitions ahead.

“For many of our athletes, this was their first time participating in a large-scale multi-sports event,” he said.

“Through competitions and exchanges with other teams, they learn from each other and gain valuable experience that not only nourishes their sporting careers but also helps Team Hong Kong, China better prepare for the Asian Games in September.

“The ABG is a one-of-a-kind event that blends beach and competitive sports, giving athletes a fresh experience and broadening their horizons.”

Hong Kong, China sent a delegation of 120 members to this edition of ABG to compete in eight sports: Open Water Swimming, Water Polo, 3x3 Basketball, Beach Athletics, Beach Handball, Dragon Boat, Windsurfing and Aquathlon.
