OCA VP Song lists five reasons for Sanya succcess

Sanya, China, April 29, 2026: OCA Vice President Song Luzeng has praised the sports facilities and competition venues at the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China.

Speaking at a joint press conference between the OCA and organising committee SABGOC at the Main Media Centre on Wednesday, Mr. Song congratulated the organisers for the good organisation of the 6th ABG.

“The OCA is very satisfied with the results of the competitions and the organisation of the Games by SABGOC,” he said.

Mr. Song, who is also Chair of the OCA Sports Committee, said he was “deeply impressed” by the venues, picking out beach wrestling and sailing in particular.

He said he had attended five of the six Asian Beach Games conducted by the OCA and that the venues and facilities in Sanya were the best he had seen – and gave five reasons for the overall success of the Asian Beach Games.

“The first is the facilities in the competition venues, such as the lanes to guide people to the right place and also the air conditioning in the tents.

“The second is the emergency capability in the face of strong winds and heavy rain. With the cooperation of the OCA, SABGOC and the Asian Federations, the competition schedule was adjusted and the sports continued to run smoothly.

“The third is the high level of competition, including one world record in men’s speed climbing. The fourth is that all 45 National Olympic Committees of the OCA took part and, to date, 29 of them have won at least one medal.

“The fifth is the wide coverage of the Games in the media, with 54,395 articles in domestic and international coverage. The number of accredited media, 702, is the highest for an Asian Beach Games, and we have had eight overseas rights-holding broadcasters and 21 domestic rights-holding broadcasters.”

All these five factors contributed to what Mr. Song described as a very successful Asian Beach Games, which run from April 22-30 with 14 sports, 15 disciplines and 62 events.
