Sanya, China, April 28, 2026: China won five of the eight gold medals on offer in the sailing competition of the 6th Asian Beach Games on Tuesday, April 28.
China won both foil windsurfing events, with Wang Yiguo taking the boys’ title and Chen Yimin winning the girls’ event.
The host nation also won gold in the three other sailing events thanks to Cheng Wenyu (Optimist Girls), Yan Guoguo (ILCA4 Girls) and Ma Zilin (Formula Kite Women).
China added two silver and two bronze medals, giving them a total of nine medals in the eight-event sailing competition at Sanya 2026.
Thailand won two sailing gold through Rachata Sadtrakulwattana (Optimist Boys) and Joseph Jonathan Weston (Formula Kite Men) and added three silver and two bronze medals.
The eighth gold medal went to Singapore’s Ian Goh in the ILCA4 Boys event. It was Singapore’s first gold medal of Sanya 2026 and they also added silver through Anya Alessia Zahedi (Optimist Girls) and bronze thanks to Nia Mehry Zahedi (ILCA4 Girls) in what turned out to be a productive sailing competition.
