Sanya, China, April 28,2026: Weather conditions have continued to affect the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, with the latest April 28 schedule update showing several competition changes.
According to the revised program, the changes have been made only to specific events rather than a widespread disruption across the Games.
Importantly, the updated schedule shows that most affected events were postponed. This distinction is significant. Based on the latest update, organizers have focused on rescheduling events to protect the integrity of competition.
The most notable changes involve Beach Handball, where medal matches have been rescheduled. The men’s bronze medal match, originally planned for April 30 at 10:00, has been moved forward to April 29 at 20:00. The men’s gold medal match has also shifted from April 30 at 12:00 to April 29 at 21:00.
The women’s final remains on April 30, but with revised times. The women’s bronze medal match is now listed for 10:00, while the women’s gold medal match will take place at 11:00. These changes mean Beach Handball finals are now split across April 29and 30, helping reduce the risk of weather disruption on a single day.
This approach minimizes disruption for athletes, coaches and spectators while still allowing flexibility if conditions remain uncertain. For competitors, however, even small timing changes can have a major effect on preparation routines, recovery periods and mental focus, particularly in medal contests.
With the final days of the Asian Beach Games approaching, weather forecasts are likely to remain an important factor. If conditions improve, the selective changes made on April 28 may prove to be a practical solution that keeps the Games running smoothly while ensuring medals are decided through competition.
