Baghdad, Iraq, April 28, 2026: The President of the National Olympic Committee of Iraq, Dr. Aqeel Muften, held a meeting with Iraqi Member of Parliament Hussein Mardan to discuss strategy to promote sports in the country.
The Iraqi NOC President emphasised the key role the government plays in legislating pro-sports laws and advocating unifying efforts among various institutions and bodies in the development of an integrated strategy and vision for sports.
On his part, MP Mardan praised the work of the Iraqi NOC and efforts made by its leadership in spearheading the development of sport in the country. He expressed his full support to the NOC and his willingness to work in parliament to remove any obstacles facing the sports movement.
The meeting was held on Monday, April 27, and was also attended by Iraqi NOC Secretary General Haitham Abdul Hamid.
