Sanya, China, April 28, 2026: The Olympic Council of Asia and the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan have reviewed progress and the next steps in the lead-up to the 10th Asian Winter Games Almaty 2029.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, and brought together OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam, OCA Deputy Director General Vinod Kumar Tiwari and senior officials from both sides. Kazakhstan NOC was represented by Director General Nurlan Nogerbek.

Talks focused on shaping the overall delivery model for the Games, including governance, coordination mechanisms and key points of contact between the organisers and the OCA.

Financial planning and contractual matters were also on the agenda, with both sides agreeing to continue discussions as planning progresses.

The proposed sports programme and delegations participation were reviewed, alongside operational areas such as broadcasting, IT systems and technical services.

Logistics planning was another key topic, including transport and accommodation, with an emphasis on efficiency and meeting international standards.

“We see this as an important step in building a clear and coordinated roadmap towards 2029. Close cooperation with the OCA will be the key to ensuring that preparations move forward efficiently and in line with international standards,” Nurlan Nogerbek said.

The next phase will include further technical exchanges and an OCA inspection visit to Almaty to review venues and overall readiness.
