Thailand’s teqball players sweep gold medals at Asian Beach Games
Sanya, China, April 27, 2026: Thailand showed their soccer skills and dexterity to record a remarkable clean sweep of the three teqball events at the 6th Asian Beach Games on Monday.
The talented Thais won the women’s doubles, mixed doubles and men’s doubles to add three gold medals to their Games tally at the Sanya Bay Yuhai Club venie cluster as teqball made its debut at the Asian Beach Games.
Teqball, which is played on a curved, table tennis-sized table and requires samba-style ball control and accurate heading ability, suited the Thais down to the ground as they defeated DPR Korea in the women’s doubles final and also in the mixed doubles decider.
In the men’s doubles they had to work much harder and came through 2-1 against Iraq to complete the clean sweep.
Teqball also brought medals for other southeast Asian nations such as Cambodia and Myanmar and also for Lebanon – a fantastic effort from the Lebanese men’s doubles team to clinch bronze.
The first final of the session was the women’s doubles, and the Thai pairing of Areeya Homdee and Jutatip Kuntatong defeated DPR Korea’s Kim Hyo Gyong and Cha Sol Gyong 2-0 (12-8, 12-3) in 27 minutes.
The two bronze medals went to Cambodia (Mey Sreymeas/Yorn Sophornraksmey) and Myanmar (Naing Naing Win/Hsu Mon Aung).
Thailand collected the second gold of the night in the mixed doubles through Suphawadi Wongkhamchan and Phakpong Dejaroen. Once again, DPRK took the silver medals thanks to Kim Il Sin and Han Song. The Thais came out on top 2-0 (12-6, 12-10) in 28 minutes.
The two bronze medals went to China (Gong Fulei/Mao Zheming) and Myanmar (Ko Ko Lwin/Khin Hnin Wai).
In the men’s doubles, Thailand’s Jirati Chanliang and Sorrasak Thaosiri overcame Iraq’s Jalil Ali and Radhi Abdulrahman Ahmed Radhi 2-1 (12-7, 9-12, 12-3) in 41 minutes.
The bronze medals went to Lebanon (Mohamad Hafez/Ahmad Kassem Arabi) and Myanmar (Saw Friday/Si Thu Tun).
