Sanya, China, April 27, 2026: The Philippine Olympic Committee has praised the high-level reception afforded to the delegation by the hosts of the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China.
As the POC prepares to take part in the signing ceremony of the host city contract for the 7th Asian Beach Games - Cebu 2028 on Monday, April 27, the POC has thanked organising committee SABGOC for their hospitality on their arrival in the tropical island.
“The stage is officially being set for the next chapter of Philippine sports history,” the POC posted in Facebook.
“Organizers and local delegates of the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, extended a remarkably warm and gracious welcome to POC President Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino and the rest of the Philippine sports delegation this weekend.
“The high-level reception served as the perfect prelude to a massive milestone: President Tolentino has officially ignited the countdown for the 7th Asian Beach Games, which the Philippines will proudly host in the island province of Cebu in 2028.”
The ceremonial transition will be locked in on Monday as President Tolentino is scheduled to represent the country in the official signing ceremony that formally awards the next hosting rights to the Philippines.
“Bringing the massive continental event to Cebu in two years is a monumental win for the POC and serves as a glowing testament to the country’s capability to stage world-class multi-sport competitions,” the POC added.
“The future is bright, but the mission in Sanya continues,” the POC stated, referring to the venue visits lined up by the POC President to support the athletes in the closing days of the 6th ABG through to April 30.
