China moves on to 13 gold medals at Sanya 2026

Sanya, China, April 26, 2026: Host nation China extended their lead at the top of the medal rankings after the fourth day of action at the 6th Asian Beach Games.

China leads the way with 13 gold medals, nine ahead of Thailand in second place with four gold medals. The Philippines remains third with three gold medals.

The host nation added four gold medals to their tally on Sunday – two in dragon boat and one apiece in open water swimming and beach athletics.

Dragon boat, which was held on the Sanya River and attracted big crowds on all three days, yielded five gold medals for China in total, while aquathlon produced three gold. China have also picked up two gold medals in open water swimming and in beach athletics, and one in water polo.

Thailand added one gold medal on Sunday in beach athletics and now have four gold, from beach athletics (3) and dragon boat (1).

China leads the way with a record of 13-11-4 (28), followed by Thailand 4-5-3 (12) and the Philippines 3-2-2 (7).

Vietnam are fourth on 2-2-4 (8) and the United Arab Emirates fifth on 2-2-2 (6).

Korea, Kazakhstan, Iran and Uzbekistan all have one gold medal each to fill the next four places.

Sixteen of 45 National Olympic Committees have won at least one medal, with four days to go until the closing ceremony on Thursday, April 30.

There are 14 sports, 15 disciplines and 62 events a Sanya 2026.
