Sanya, China, April 25, 2026: The Mayor of the Athletes’ Village of the 6th Asian Beach Games, Rong Yansong, has highlighted the services and security provided by organising committee SABGOC.
Speaking at the Chefs de Mission meeting at the Athletes’ Village on Saturday, Mayor Rong said that for every athlete staying at the village there was at least one staff member providing care and services.
“In addition to the athletes, the village has over 700 volunteers, over 730 catering service staff, over 450 security staff, over 240 property cleaning staff and over 320 transportation drivers, plus nearly 100 staff of the village management team. This gives a total of more than 5,100 people,” he said.
“This means that, for every athlete, there is at least one staff member providing services. They are the most sincere expression of the Chinese people’s traditional hospitality. It is our wholehearted sincerity to ensure that every National Olympic Committee member lives comfortably, eats safely and travels worry-free.”
The Athletes’ Village occupies four of the eight towers of the Mangrove Tree Resort World in Sanya Bay – an experienced holiday destination with a complete range of leisure and living services.
“From the very beginning of our preparation, we hoped that this would not just be a temporary residence during the Games but also an exclusive holiday resort where athletes can unwind and relax after intense competition, immersing themselves in the tropical charm of Sanya amidst the coconut breeze and sea rhythm,” Mayor Rong added.
“Therefore, I think this is not only an Athletes’ Village but also an Athletes’ Resort.”
Mayor Rong pointed out that former IOC President Thomas Bach – now honorary life president – had visited the village on April 21.
“He highly praised our operational management and service support, calling it ‘Chinese perfection’.
“In fact, there is no profound secret to this ‘Chinese perfection’. It is simply putting the most simple Chinese saying ‘when guests come, they must be well entertained’ into practice in every detail,” he added.
