Sanya, China, April 25, 2026: The Sanya Asian Beach Games Organising Committee has revealed the total number of athletes and officials attending Sanya 2026.
A total of 1,635 athletes from all 45 National Olympic Committees of the OCA are taking part in the 6th ABG. This figure comprises 959 male athletes and 676 female athletes. In addition, there are 924 team officials from the 45 NOCs. This gives a total of 2,559 athletes and team officials.
The figures were revealed at a Chefs de Mission meeting at the Athletes’ Village on Saturday, April 25.
The meeting heard SABGOC updates on departure procedures for NOCs, adjustments to the competition schedule following a thunderstorm the previous afternoon, medical services after a Sri Lankan swimmer was stung by a jellyfish and how the jiu jitsu competition had been moved from the Yuhai Club venue cluster to the Athletes’ Village the previous evening.
OCA Deputy Director General Vinod Kumar Tiwari urged the NOC delegates to go to the sports information centre in the village to check on the new competition schedule timings due to the storms the previous evening.
He also asked the NOCs to encourage their athletes to visit the OCA booth in the International Zone of the Athletes’ Village to see the “Guarding the Asian Games” set-up. This included anti-doping education, the Prevention of Manipulation of Competition and Safeguarding, with fun competitions, prizes and giveaways.
The next CDM meeting will be on April 27.
