Sanya, China, April 23, 2026: Asma Al Hosani summed up the mindset and determination of the United Arab Emirates jiu jitsu team after winning gold in the women’s -52kg category at the 6th Asian Beach Games on Thursday.
Al Hosani defeated Im Eonju of Korea in the final via advantage after a scoreless encounter at the Sanya Bay Yuhai Club venue cluster.
The UAE won two of the three gold medals on offer on the first day of competition. With three more events on Friday, there is a good chance the UAE will be near the top of the medal rankings in the early stages of the Asian Beach Games.
Al Hosani, Asian Games champion in Hangzhou in 2023, said: “I am so happy to compete here in the Beach Games.
“It’s the first time for me to experience this weather and the beach but Team UAE is always ready to compete and overcome any obstacles.”
The two bronze medals went to Mongoljin Ganbaatar of Mongolia and Jenna Kaila Napolis of the Philippines.
