Lahore, Pakistan, April 21, 2026: A key milestone for women’s sport in Pakistan was marked with the inauguration of a dedicated boxing ring at Lahore College for Women University last Friday, April 17.
The President of the Pakistan Olympic Association and President of the Commonwealth Games Association Pakistan, Arif Saeed, inaugurated the facility as Chief Guest.
Designed exclusively for female athletes, the facility provides a safe and empowering space for training and competition.
The POA President stated the initiative was a landmark achievement, highlighting its role in strengthening training opportunities for female athletes. He also proposed future initiatives, including the Sport for All programmes, an international sports conference and the establishment of a sports school at Lahore College for Women University.
Also attending the inauguration was Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraisha, Vice Chancellor of the University, POA Secretary General Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, the President of the Pakistan Boxing Federation Lt. Col. (retd.), Muhammad Nasir Ijaz Tung, and PBF Secretary General Major Irfan Younis.
The ceremony featured exhibition bouts by women boxers.
