Astana, Kazakhstan, April 21, 2026: The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan participated in an international seminar in Dakar, Senegal for NOCs that will take part at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games later this year.
Bektur Kiyatbay, Director of the Sports Department, represented the Kazakhstan NOC at the event which brought together delegates from over 200 NOCs.
The seminar primarily focused on organisational aspects and the specific format of the Youth Olympic Games which will take place from October 31 to November 13, 2026.
“These seminars provided a comprehensive understanding of the organisational requirements and the host city’s expectations,” Kiyatbay noted. “This is vital for planning our team’s participation and coordinating effectively with National Federations.
“With a clear understanding of the Games format and the invitation distribution process, we can approach our preparations more systematically,” he added.
Participation in Dakar 2026 will not follow the traditional qualification system. Instead spots are allocated based on invitations from the IOC.
So far Kazakhstan has secured berths in 11 sports with 18 athletes set to represent the country in Senegal.
