Sanya, China, April 21, 2026: The Olympic Council of Asia’s “Guarding the Asian Games” project will be in full force at the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China.

Delegates at the third Chefs de Mission meeting at the Athletes Village on Tuesday, April 21 heard that the OCA initiative would have a dedicated area in the International Zone in which athletes, coaches and other accredited personnel can attend.

The OCA display will include various key themes, including the Prevention of Manipulation of Competition (PMC) and Safeguarding. These are two areas in particular that the OCA is keen to promote and expand, with every National Olympic Committee required to appoint a dedicated PMC Officer and Safeguarding Officer to serve as a link to the athletes.

“Please encourage your athletes to go to the ‘Guarding the Asian Games’ area in the International Zone during the Games. It will help them in the future,” the OCA’s Deputy Director General, Mr. Vinod Kumar Tiwari, told the delegates at the CDM meeting.

There will also be Clean Sport Ambassadors on hand – all part of the OCA’s event-based anti-doping education activities.

The CDM meeting also included a presentation by the International Testing Agency focusing on Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE), Doping Control Operations and Whereabouts and Rooming Information.

Doping control operations are effective from April 18-30 and there will be 16 doping control stations. Samples will be sent to the WADA-accredited laboratory in Beijing for analysis. National Olympic Committees were also reminded to appoint an anti-doping contact person to assist in the Whereabouts and Rooming Information requirement.

*Other topics in the third CDM meeting included arrangements for the opening ceremony on Wednesday, April 22, NOC Services and the visit of IOC Honorary Life President Thomas Bach to the Athletes Village on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 21.

*The OCA and organising committee SABGOC both informed the team leaders that banners and other propaganda materials were not permitted, as stated by the OCA Constitution and Olympic Charter Rule 50, and that penalties for violating these rules would be harsh.

*Cultural activities and performances will be held in the Athletes Village from April 23-29, starting at 7.30pm and running for one hour.

*The fourth CDM meeting will take place on Saturday, April 25.
