Yemen to compete in two sports at 6th ABG in Sanya

Sana’a, Yemen, April 20, 2026: The Yemen Olympic Committee has confirmed that the country will compete in two sports at the 6th Asian Beach Games which gets underway in Sanya, China on Wednesday, April 22.

Yemen’s athlete delegation will comprise six athletes in beach athletics and beach wrestling.

“Our country is keen to be present and attend such important events despite the country’s circumstances,” the Yemen Olympic Committee posted.

The Sanya 2026 ABG will be held from April 22-30, with all 45 National Olympic Committees competing in 14 sports, 15 disciplines and 62 events.

High jumper Haitham Ahmed Yadin said: “I’m pleased to participate in the Sanya Asian Beach Games and welcome this important opportunity to prove my abilities. I thank the Yemen Olympic Committee for giving me this opportunity and hopefully I will be able to perform honourably.”

Asma Faisal, who will compete in the women’s 60 metre race in athletics, said: “We have prepared well for this event and I’m honoured to represent Yemen at the Asian Beach Games.”

The Yemeni delegation participated in an anti-doping workshop on Sunday, April 19. The workshop was also attended by Yemen Olympic Committee Secretary General Mohamed Al-Ahjri.
