Sanya, China, April 20, 2026: The Olympic Council of Asia welcomes two young reporters from Jordan and Lebanon to Sanya for the 6th Asian Beach Games from April 22-30.
Zaynab Kawtharani (Lebanon) and Hana Dayatt (Jordan) won the Asian Youth Reporter competition in their respective countries when the OCA called in to deliver the Asian Games for All project last year.
They are both keen to get started - and, after recovering from a long journey, they explored the Main Media Centre on Monday morning before heading off to the Athletes’ Village in the afternoon.
“This is my first time to visit China and I’m so happy to be here and to be working for the OCA media team,” said Zaynab, 21.
“I have some friends in the Lebanese team so it will be very interesting to watch them compete in Sanya.”
Hana, 20, is looking forward to the action starting on Tuesday, April 21, as Jordan will be up against Thailand in the men’s beach handball competition – one day before the opening ceremony.
“This will be very significant as they will be the first athletes in any sport to compete here in the Sanya Asian Beach Games,” said Hana.
“I am looking forward to watching the handball game and also to interviewing the athletes afterwards before writing my article.”
Hana names handball and jiujitsu among her favourite sports here on the programme, while Zaynab is keen to see beach volleyball and dragon boat racing among others.
As part of the OCA media team, their work will be posted every day on the OCA website (www.oca.asia) and some of it will be used in the June edition of the OCA’s quarterly magazine, Sporting Asia.
