Hong Kong, China, April 20, 2026: The Sanya 2026 Asian Beach Games will officially open on Wednesday, April 22, marking the return of the Games after 10 years.
Athletes, coaching and supporting teams of the Hong Kong, China delegation are departing one after another for Sanya.
Mr. Yeung Wing Sun, Vice-President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and Chef de Mission, said: “As the highest-level beach sports event in Asia, this edition of sporting extravaganza is particularly significant, marking our nation’s return as host since the Haiyang 2012 ABG.”
Mr. Yeung continued: “There are both seasoned veterans and energetic rising stars in the team. I wish them to give their all and bring glory home."
The Sanya ABG will take place from April 22-30 with the participation of 1,790 athletes from 45 countries and regions across Asia in 14 sports, 15 disciplines and 62 events.
Hong Kong, China will send a delegation of 120 members, including 84 athletes, to compete in eight sports: Open Water Swimming, Water Polo, 3x3 Basketball, Beach Athletics, Beach Handball, Dragon Boat, Windsurfing and Aquathlon.
