Vietnam NOC announces flagbearers for Sanya 2026 opening ceremony

Sanya, China, April 20, 2026: The Vietnam Olympic Committee has selected two athletes to carry the national flag at the opening ceremony of the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China on Wednesday, April 22.

 

They are men’s teqball player Ba Truong Giang and women’s beach handball standout Lu Ngoc Trinh.

 

The pair will undertake the ceremonial duty, representing the image of Vietnam’s delegation at the continental multi-sport event during the parade of athletes.

 

At this edition, the Vietnam sports delegation comprises 90 members, including 54 athletes competing in eight sports: beach athletics, open water swimming, beach wrestling, sailing, jiujitsu, dragon boat, teqball and beach handball.

 

On April 18, the Vietnam’s women’s beach handball team arrived in China and settled into the Athletes’ Village in accordance with the organizers’ arrangements. The official delegation, along with medical and technical staff, is set to depart for Sanya on April 20.

 

The remaining teams - sailing, jiujitsu, dragon boat, teqball, beach athletics, open water swimming and beach wrestling - will travel in line with their respective competition schedules.

 

The 6th Asian Beach Games will run from April 22-30 with 14 sports, 15 disciplines and 62 events.
