Hong Kong, China delegation gears up for Sanya 2026 Asian Beach Games

Hong Kong, China, April 13, 2026: With the sixth Asian Beach Games to be held soon in Sanya, China, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) hosted the Flag Presentation Ceremony for the Hong Kong, China delegation on Monday, April 13 at the Olympic House.

 

Miss Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, officiated at the Flag Presentation Ceremony.

 

Accompanied by Mr. Lin Zhan, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Miss Law presented the HKSAR regional flag to Dr. Timothy Fok, President of SF&OC, Mr. Edgar Yang, Hon. Secretary General of SF&OC, Mr. Yeung Wing Sun A.N.W., Vice-President of SF&OC and Chef de Mission of the delegation, and other delegation members.

 

Dr. Timothy Fok said: “Among the 14 sports at this edition of the Asian Beach Games, the Hong Kong, China delegation is participating in eight. This demonstrates the rising standard of our athletes and the increasing diversification of sports development. 

 

“We look forward to seeing our athletes shine with determination and confidence against the backdrop of Sanya’s sun and sand, gaining valuable experience on the international stage and laying a solid foundation for their future journey. 

 

“By forging lasting friendships, our athletes will showcase the legacy and vitality of Hong Kong sports to the world.”

 

SF&OC announced that Nip Tsz Yin (Open Water Swimming) and Curtis Ho (Windsurfing) will be the flag bearers for the Hong Kong, China delegation at the opening ceremony on April 22. 

 

Nip Tsz Yin said: “I am deeply honoured to serve as a flag bearer for the first time. I look forward to interacting with and learning from athletes from different backgrounds during the Games.‍” 

Curtis Ho, who is only 16 years old and the youngest member of the delegation, added: “I am very excited and will give my all. I hope I can stand on the podium and achieve my goals.”

 

The Sanya ABG will take place from April 22-30 with the participation of 1,790 athletes from 45 countries and regions across Asia. There will be 14 sports, 15 disciplines and 62 events.

 

Hong Kong, China will send a delegation of 120 members, including 84 athletes, to compete in eight sports: Open Water Swimming, Water Polo, 3x3 Basketball, Beach Athletics, Beach Handball, Dragon Boat, Windsurfing and Aquathlon.
