IOA lauds women boxers for dominating Asian Championships

New Delhi, India, April 13, 2026: The Indian Olympic Association has congratulated the national women’s boxing team for “an incredible performance” at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, last week.

 

India emerged as the most successful nation in the women’s division with each of their boxers winning medals, 10 overall – four golds, two silvers and four bronze medals.

 

The four gold medals were won by Minakshi Hooda (48kg), Preeti Pawar (54kg), Priya Ghanghas (60kg) and Arundathi Choudhary (70kg).

 

Minakshi Hooda, the reigning world champion in the 48kg category, added the continental crown by defeating Mongolian Nomundari Enkh-Amgalan 5-0 by unanimous decision.

 

Preeti Pawar continued her sensational run in the 54kg class, defeating Chinese Taipei’s Huang Hsiao-wen – a three-time world champion and an Olympic bronze medallist – 5-0 to secure the top podium finish.

 

Priya Ghanghas was at her clinical best to beat North Korea’s Won Un-gyong 3-0 in the 60kg final, while Arundathi Choudhary won gold in the 70kg category by beating Kazakhstan’s Bakyt Seidish 4-1.
