Bangkok, Thailand, April 12, 2026: Oman won the qualifying event for men’s hockey to book their berth at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
The top six teams at the April 2–10 men’s qualifier in Bangkok won tickets to the 12-team men’s competition at the Asian Games.
Apart from Oman, the other five teams to qualify are Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Chinese Taipei.
These six qualifiers will join the big boys of Asian hockey at the Asian Games – defending champions India, Pakistan, China, Malaysia, Korea and hosts Japan, all of whom qualified directly.
Oman defeated Sri Lanka 3-1 to win the nine-team qualifying tournament in Bangkok. Uzbekistan edged Indonesia 3-2 to finish third.
