Hong Kong, China, April 11, 2026: The 69th Festival of Sport in Hong Kong, China kicked off on Friday, April 10 with an opening ceremony and carnival to mark the start of a vibrant, citywide celebration of sport.
The festival is organised by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and supported by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
The officiating guests at the opening ceremony included Dr. Timothy Fok, President of SF&OC, and Ms. Manda Chan, Director of Leisure and Cultural Services.
With the theme "One Line of Energy, A City in Motion", this year's festival aims to bring a variety of sports closer to the community and promote "sport for all", encouraging people from all walks of life to embrace an active lifestyle and experience the joy of movement together.
The carnival will take place over two days, April 11-12, at Kowloon Park Sports Centre, offering the public a one-stop platform to explore sports through over 10 interactive sports trials alongside dynamic stage performances and sports demonstrations.
Participants can immerse themselves in a wide range of sports. The Team Hong Kong mascot Rock will make a special appearance to engage with the public and share the joy of sports.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Fok said: "The Festival of Sport features over 50 diverse sports events across all districts of Hong Kong, putting the 'sport for all' goal into practice. Through rich sporting experiences, we aim to inspire the public to try different sports and develop an exercise routine, injecting positive energy into the community."
SF&OC has appointed Tsang Cham Yuen (basketball), Lam Yi Nok (table tennis) and Hayley Chan (windsurfing) as festival ambassadors. They will participate in various sports activities and share their sporting journeys to encourage the public to build healthy lifestyles.
From April to August, SF&OC and affiliated National Sports Associations (NSAs) will organise various sports activities across different districts in Hong Kong, catering to participants of all ages and abilities.
The five enhanced events are "Shuttlecock Fun Day" on May 17, "Battle of the Minds - Chinese Chess Fun Day" on May 30, "Family Sports Game 2026" on May 31, "Sport for All Fun Day" on June 28 and "VRC Wave and Aim Summer Festival" on July 25.
*Following the opening ceremony, the presentation ceremony of SF&OC Incentive Awards & Junior Incentive Awards 2025 was held. Over HK$3.6 million was granted to NSAs in recognition of their contributions to the development of sports over the past year.
