Sanya, China, May 10, 2020: The organising committee of the Olympic Council of Asia’s 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China this year has issued the sports pictograms and posters.
There will be 17 sports, 19 disciplines and 93 events at the 6th ABG, which will run from November 28 to December 6, 2020 in the resort city of Sanya on tropical Hainan island province.
The Vice Mayor of Sanya and Deputy Secretary General of organising committee SABGOC, Zhou Jun, said the organising committee had spent several months designing the sports pictograms, which have been approved by the OCA along with the official posters.
Describing the design concept, Vice Mayor Zhou said the sport pictograms focused on the sunlight shining on the athletes to capture the unique essence of beach sports. The sunlight here is reflected in the clean background of the pictograms, “creating a visual association between Yin (shadow) and Yang (sunlight) that also fits the Chinese traditional aesthetics.”
Vice Mayor Zhou continues: “It is a manifestation of the Chinese imagination and implies that Sanya itself is a city filled with imagination.
“Aiming to vitalise a city by hosting a successful Games, Sanya will be more than delighted to share with you her past, present and future achievements.”
The sport of teqball – which requires football skills such as ball control, heading and passing over a curved table tennis-size table – will make its OCA debut after being welcomed into the sports portfolio at the OCA General Assembly in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2018.
