Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, May 10, 2020: The Olympic Council of Malaysia will provide grants to 23 ordinary members and seven affiliate members to boost their financial situation during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the OCM’s Trust Management Committee on Friday and the money will come from the OCM Trust Fund.
The OCM had earlier set up the Special Covid-19 Fund to assist the National Sports Associations with their administrative expenses at a time when the cancellation of and inability to organise events in particular have affected their revenue streams.
The total grant awarded to the 30 NSAs is RM 265,000 (61,000 USD), with a maximum of RM 10,000 (2,300 USD) per NSA. The grant will be disbursed within the next week.
