Hong Kong, China, April 1, 2026: The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) announced the winners of Cathay 2025 Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on March 31.
World No.1 Ryan Choi (fencing), who captured a historic men’s foil individual gold medal at the World Championships last year, scooped up the Cathay Best of the Best Hong Kong Sports Stars Award for Men on his first nomination.
Siobhan Haughey (swimming), who returned from injury to victory by winning two gold and two bronze medals at the 15th National Games, reclaimed the Cathay Best of the Best Hong Kong Sports Stars Award for Women.
SF&OC received 128 nominations from 56 National Sports Associations in this year’s HKSSA. Following voting by the judging panel, the media and the public, all 16 winners across four award categories were revealed.
The officiating and award presentation guests included Mr. Cheuk Wing Hing, Acting Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Dr. Timothy Fok, President of SF&OC, and Ms. Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer of Cathay, title sponsor of HKSSA.
Dr. Timothy Fok, President of SF&OC, said: “This year marks the milestone of the 75th anniversary of SF&OC. Throughout the years, SF&OC has been striving to promote the development of sports in Hong Kong, and we have witnessed the growth and transformation of the sporting community.
“Our athletes continued to achieve remarkable results last year, with experienced athletes and the younger generation striving forward side by side, continuously injecting new energy to the sports sector.
“This year is set to be another exciting one for sports, with major sporting events taking place in succession. This December, Hong Kong will host the XXVIII Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) General Assembly Hong Kong, China, 2026, offering an expanded international platform for the sports sector.
“SF&OC will continue to work hand in hand with all sectors to leverage sports as a unique bridge, telling the world the good stories of our country and Hong Kong.”
