SABGOC announces competition schedule with 62 gold medals at Sanya 2026

Sanya, China, April 1, 2026: The Sanya Asian Beach Games Organising Committee has released the overall competition schedule for the 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026.

 

The Games are scheduled from April 22-30, 2026, encompassing 14 sports, 15 disciplines and 62 events, with 62 gold medals to be awarded. 

 

According to the published schedule, competitions will be staged across several coastal venue clusters.

 

At the Tianya Haijiao Venue Cluster, Beach Handball will begin on April 21, one day ahead of the official opening, and conclude on April 30, with two gold medals awarded. 

 

Beach Volleyball will commence on April 23 and run for seven days, with finals set for April 29. Sport Climbing will be held on April 28-29, with four gold medals to be decided.

 

The Sanya Bay Haiyue Square Venue Cluster will host various water-based and other featured sports. Open Water Swimming is scheduled from April 25-27, with gold medals awarded daily. Water Polo will take place over eight days, with finals on April 24 and April 29. Beach Kabaddi begins on April 23, with finals set for April 27.

 

The Sanya Bay Yuhai Club Venue Cluster will host four events. Beach Soccer starts on April 23, with the final on April 29. Jiu Jitsu is scheduled for April 23-24, awarding three gold medals each day. Teqball will be held from April 24-27, culminating in three gold medals. Beach Wrestling begins on April 28, with eight medals to be awarded the following day.

 

Other venues include the Sanya River Venue, which will host Dragon Boat Racing from April 24-26 and award six gold medals. The Sanya Sports Centre Gymnasium Venue will hold the 3x3 Basketball on April 25, with winners determined on April 29. 

 

Sailing at Haihong Square Venue starts on April 23, with eight gold medals to be awarded on April 28. Beach Athletics will be held at Phoenix Island Venue from April 24-26, featuring 10 gold medals. Additionally, the Photography Base Venue will host Aquathlon on April 23 and April 25.

 

Gold medals will be distributed in several peak periods during the Games, with approximately 60% expected to be awarded on April 24, 28 and 29.

 

On April 29, a total of 16 gold medals will be awarded across events such as Water Polo, 3x3 Basketball, Beach Soccer, Sport Climbing, Beach Volleyball and Beach Wrestling.
