Sanya, China, March 29, 2026: Organisers of the Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 have announced that the torch relay will be held on Monday, March 30, Xinhua News reports.
Wang Guoping, deputy director of the organising committee, said the torch relay would highlight the city's coastal scenery and vibrant sports culture.
"The torch relay will showcase the unique appeal of beach sports through elements such as sunshine, coastline and sandy beaches," Wang said.
"It will present Sanya as a tropical seaside city with a growing sports culture, while also highlighting its role in the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port."
The opening ceremony, themed around vitality, openness and joy, will be held on April 22 at Sanya Asian Beach Games Park.
The Games will run from April 22 to 30, with a total of 1,790 athletes confirmed to take part.

*The 6th Asian Beach Games Technical Officials Meeting was held on March 23, featuring online and in-person participation.
The meeting was held to provide technical delegates for each sport with detailed, up-to-date information on Games preparations, while also collecting professional feedback and suggestions.
Prior to the meeting, technical delegates and competition directors visited Sanya to inspect the competition venues and on-site facilities.
During the meeting, relevant departments of the SABGOC, including the IT Department, the Games Services Department and the Transport Services Department, delivered detailed briefings on the progress of preparations.
