Lausanne, Switzerland, March 27, 2026: The President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), Tayyab Ikram, had fruitful talks with the IOC President Kirsty Coventry on March 25.
Tayyab said: “Had a great interaction with IOC President Kirsty Coventry at the Olympic House in Lausanne, Switzerland.
“We engaged in a thorough discussion about the ongoing geopolitical situation, its impact on sport and the potential of sport to bring nations together, which is especially important at this time.”
Tayyab said their talks touched on the “Fit for the Future” campaign - one of the most impactful initiatives for global sport, driven by the IOC President.
“I assured her of the full support of FIH and the global hockey community. This programme will primarily benefit the athletes, which is genuinely positive,” Tayyab added.
“I took the opportunity during our meeting to renew, on behalf of the global hockey community, my sincerest thanks, deep appreciation and warm congratulations to President Coventry for the successful Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games and her remarkable leadership at this defining moment for sport.
“Last but not least, I extended a formal invitation to the IOC President for our upcoming FIH Hockey World Cup, which will take place in August in Belgium and the Netherlands. We all look forward to hopefully welcoming her on this fantastic occasion.”
