Lausanne, Switzerland, March 27, 2026: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) is mourning the passing of journalist S. Thyagarajan.
FIH President Tayyab Ikram commented: “Very saddened to learn of the passing of former Indian sports journalist S. Thyagarajan, who was one of the most respected hockey reporters for several decades and also served on the Media Committees of both FIH and the Asian Hockey Federation.
“A former president of both the Sports Journalists’ Federation of India and the Tamil Nadu Sports Journalists’ Association, he covered six Olympics and nine Asian Games.
“Beyond his excellence in writing, S. Thyagarajan was a man of great human values, with whom I shared a truly good and friendly relationship.
“In my personal name and on behalf of FIH, I would like to extend our sincerest condolences to his family and friends, as well as to all his colleagues in the Indian media community. RIP.”
