Lausanne, Switzerland, March 27, 2026: IOC President Kirsty Coventry welcomed Ambassador Jia Guide to Olympic House in Lausanne.
He was recently appointed as the Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organisations in Switzerland.
Ambassador Jia presented President Coventry with a letter from Chinese President Xi Jinping, who congratulated the IOC on the successful staging of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
President Xi said China would continue working hand in hand with the IOC to promote peace and development.
President Coventry expressed her thanks for the warm, personal message from President Xi and emphasised that sport can be a beacon of hope in a divided world. She also congratulated the ambassador on Team China’s successful performance at Milano Cortina 2026.
China won five gold medals, four silver and six bronze for a total of 15 medals and a 12th place finish in the final medal rankings.
