Manila, Philippines, March 27, 2026: The President of the Philippine Olympic Committee, Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, is celebrating the return of track cycling to the sports landscape.

“After decades of hiatus, Track Cycling makes a triumphant return to the Philippine sporting stage,” he posted on social media.

“There is no better way to welcome back a sport where we once dominated Southeast Asia and stood as one of the premier teams in Asia, having represented our nation multiple times in the Olympics.

“While a lack of infrastructure previously forced our athletes to focus on road and MTB (mountain bike) disciplines, we are now reclaiming the track—a field where we last secured SEA Games gold before the turn of the 2010s.

“This is precisely why the world-class Tagaytay CT Velodrome was built here in my hometown. We hope that hosting the 2026 Asian Track Cycling Championships will signal the revival of our passion and championship pedigree in this discipline.”
