Thimphu, Bhutan, March 24, 2026: The President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, was present at the launch of the "One Tree Initiative" in honour of His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo’s - Jigme Singye Wangchuck - 70th birth anniversary on Saturday, March 21.
The major environmental initiative at Namselling, Thimphu, was organised by the BOC’s Insurance Partner Bhutan Insurance Limited and implemented in partnership with WWF Bhutan and the Department of Forest and Park Services.
BOC President Prince Jigyel planted a tree symbolising a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and the enduring legacy of His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo.
The concept of the programme is to plant a tree for every new internal combustion engine vehicle insured under a comprehensive policy, as well as for new industries with environmental impact insured during the initiative period.
