Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, March 22, 2026: The Asian Hockey Federation has announced that the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games men’s hockey qualifiers have been moved from Oman to Bangkok.
The nine-nation qualifiers were originally scheduled to be held in Muscat from March 28 to April 5, with the top four teams earning berths at the 20th Asian Games later this year.
But, due to the turmoil in the Middle East, the tournament has now been moved to the Thai capital and will be held from April 2 – 10.
The nine teams are in two pools.
Pool A: Oman, Hong Kong China, Thailand, Kazakhstan and Indonesia.
Pool B: Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan.
The four top teams will qualify for the Asian Games alongside leading hockey nations like India, Pakistan, China, Japan, Korea and Malaysia.
Meanwhile the women’s qualifying competition will be staged in Indonesia, starting on April 20.
