Hong Kong, China, March 21, 2026: The Hong Kong, China Olympic Academy organised a seminar entitled “A Glamorous Transformation in Sport: The Next Level” at the Jockey Club Auditorium of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on March 20, under the auspices of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China.
The seminar brought together distinguished sports leaders and elite athletes to explore development opportunities for Hong Kong’s sports industry. The event attracted over a thousand participants, including members of the sports community, students and the general public.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Kenneth Fok, Vice-President of SF&OC and Chairperson of HKCOA, said: “Since Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, our athletes have competed on the international stage under the name ‘Hong Kong, China’ and achieved breakthroughs.
“From our historic first Olympic gold medal to today’s diverse achievements, Hong Kong has progressed as the best manifestation of the successful implementation of ‘one country, two systems’.”
He added: “This year marks a significant milestone for SF&OC – our 75th anniversary. We will continue to leverage Hong Kong’s distinctive advantages of enjoying strong support of the country while being closely connected to the world.
“Later this year, Hong Kong will host the ANOC General Assembly for the first time, bringing together over 1,200 representatives from 206 National Olympic Committees and international sports leaders. This will be a golden opportunity for Hong Kong to play its role as a ‘super-connector’ between the mainland and the rest of the world, extending the country’s network of friends and telling a good story of Hong Kong sports.”
Panel discussions included contributions from Mr. Eric Fok, Chairman of the Football Association of Hong Kong, China; Mr. Michael Cheng, President of the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association; and Mr. Andy Kwok, Captain of the Hong Kong Golf Club, and a “dialogue with Olympians” featured Ma Long (table tennis), Stephanie Au (swimming) and Yvette Kong (swimming).
