Muscat, Oman, March 16, 2026: The General Assembly of the Oman Olympic Committee was held on Sunday, March 15 at the Kempinski Hotel Muscat, chaired by His Highness Sayyid bin Qais Al Said, OOC President.
In his address to the assembly, the OOC President affirmed that 2025 represented a transitional milestone in the OOC’s journey with the election of the current Board of Directors.
President Sayyid explained that the OOC has worked on reorganising its priorities, and was now focusing on sports with Olympic potential and developing young athletes who can benefit from Olympic Solidarity programmes in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
He also noted that efforts were continuing to qualify technical and administrative personnel through the programmes of the Oman Olympic Academy, stressing that investing in human resources was the foundation for achieving sustainable sports development.
Concluding, the OOC President expressed his sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for its continued support, and thanked His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman, for his generous patronage.
The General Assembly reviewed the report for 2025 and Oman’s participation in a number of international multi-sports events including the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
The final accounts for 2025 were endorsed and the meeting concluded with a review of the estimated budget for the current year.
