Tashkent, Uzbekistan, March 15, 2026: A high-powered meeting to discuss mass sports in the Uzbek capital was held on Friday, March 13, with the participation of the Ministry of Sport, the National Olympic Committee and the leadership of the Tashkent city administration.
In attendance was the Minister of Sport, Adham Ikramov, OCA Vice President and First Deputy Chairman of the NOC, Otabek Umarov, NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov, district governors and representatives of higher education institutions and relevant organisations.
The meeting discussed in detail issues related to the organisation of mass sports competitions such as the Olympic Peaks of New Uzbekistan, the Student Olympics of New Uzbekistan and the Five Initiatives Olympics.
It was noted that such sports events are key to identifying young talent, attracting young people to sport and effectively using sports infrastructure. At the end of the meeting a number of tasks were earmarked to be acted upon.
