Nepal NOC prepares for Asian Games Fun Run

Kathmandu, Nepal, March 13, 2026: Nepal Olympic Committee conducted a press conference on Friday, March 13 to promote the Asian Games Fun Run to be held in Kathmandu on Saturday.

 

The President of Nepal NOC, Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha, welcomed the guests from the Olympic Council of Asia, Deputy Director General Mr. Vinod Kumar Tiwari, and Mr. Fumihito Kanaizuka, from the PR department of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee.

 

There was a large turnout of media, from broadcasting, press and social media, guaranteeing widespread coverage of the Asian Games Fun Run.

 

The run will begin at 7.30am on Saturday from the NOC premises and will conclude at Patan Durbar Square after passing through several points of interest in the city. The route is approximately 3km, offering participants the opportunity to run through the historic heritage of Kathmandu.

 

More than 1,000 runners, including athletes, coaches, Olympians, sports officials, students and media representatives are expected to take part.

 

Nepal NOC has been preparing thoroughly for the 20th Asian Games, which will take place from September 19 to October 4, by holding briefings with various stakeholders, including media and national sports associations.

 

AINAGOC has also entered the final stages of preparation, with the second phase of ticket pre-sales now underway for the general public, following the completion of the first round for local residents only. 

 

The Asian Games torch relay will start in August and cover 40 municipalities of Aichi Prefecture, and the sports programme has been boosted with the addition of two up-and-coming new sports - teqball and padel, both full medal sports.
