Colombo, Sri Lanka, March 12, 2026: The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka will compete in the inaugural SEA Plus Youth Games following a special invitation to selected Asian nations.

The announcement comes after the President of the Philippine Olympic Committee, Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino, officially unveiled the new regional multi-sports event in Manila on Monday, March 9.

The Philippines will host the inaugural edition from December 2-14, 2027.

Sri Lanka NOC President Suresh Subramaniam, who welcomed the invitation and confirmed participation, said: “Although we are not a Southeast Asian nation, Sri Lanka received a special invitation for our athletes due to the strong friendship between our Olympic Committees. We are pleased to accept this opportunity for our young athletes.”

The SEA Plus Youth Games will bring together young athletes from the 11 Southeast Asian nations, along with 12 invited Asian nations.

Sri Lanka NOC said the Games would offer valuable international experience for the country’s emerging athletes while further strengthening sporting ties within Asia.
