OCA plans TUE webinar ahead of multi-sport games

Kuwait City, Kuwait, March 6, 2026: The Olympic Council of Asia is to conduct a webinar on Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) on Monday, April 6 ahead of the upcoming series of OCA multi-sport games in 2026.

In a circular to the OCA’s 45 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and National Anti-Doping Organisations (NADOs) dated March 5, OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam says the webinar will cover TUE and the 2027 International Standard for TUE.

The webinar is aimed at NOC medical staff and members of NADO TUE Committees in preparation for the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

“The webinar will provide an overview of the TUE process and highlight key updates to the 2027 International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (ISTUE), following the launch of the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards at the World Conference on Doping in Sport held in Busan in December 2025,” the circular stated.

The session will be delivered by Dr. Teoh Chin Sim, member of the WADA Expert Advisory Group on Therapeutic Use Exemptions, who will share practical insights and experience on the following topics:

1. An overview of the TUE framework: purpose and procedures

2. Key changes in the 2027 ISTUE: a critical “heads-up” on new requirements

3. Best practices for submitting a TUE application

4. Supporting medical evidence: documentation standards and expectations

5. Common challenges and practical solutions based on TUEC experience

6. What TUECs assess during reviews, aligned with ISTUE clauses

7. How team medical doctors can support compliance and effective collaboration
