Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, April 30, 2020: David Lappartient, President of the International Cycling Union (UCI), and the Minister of Sport and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan, Dayanch Gulgeldyev, held a teleconference last week.
Among the wide-ranging topics on the agenda were the organisational issues of the 2021 World Track Cycling Championships in Ashgabat as well as bilateral cooperation.
The lively discussion also focused on the preparations of the Turkmenistan national track cycling team for the World Championships.
Turkmenistan’s capital will be just the third Asian city to host the World Track Cycling Championships. Previously Maebashi in Japan and Hong Kong hosted the cycling showpiece.
The Turkmenistan side was also represented by Azat Muradov, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, while UCI Director Amina Lanaya and International Relations head Vincent Jacquet also represented the world cycling governing body.
