Hong Kong, China, February 23, 2026: Hong Kong, China made history at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, which officially concluded on Sunday, February 22.

The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China extends its heartfelt gratitude to the record number of four athletes and their teams for their dedication and effort.

Mr. Wong Po Kee, Chef de Mission of the delegation and Honorary Deputy Secretary General of SF&OC, said: “For the first time, Hong Kong had both male and female athletes competing in short track speed skating.

“Making her Olympic debut, Lam Ching Yan achieved a historic milestone in the women’s 1500m. With well-executed tactics and determination, she advanced through each round to reach the final, finishing seventh among the world’s top rivals — a best-ever result for Hong Kong at the Winter Olympics.

“Kwok Tsz Fung also gave his utmost in two men’s short track speed skating events, performing to his expected standard.”

Wong continued: “Our two alpine skiers demonstrated exceptional determination. Competing in his second Winter Olympics, Adrian Yung delivered steady performances in the men’s Giant Slalom, completing both runs. He and Eloise King later contested the men’s and women’s Slalom respectively, demonstrating resilience and perseverance despite the adverse weather.”

Wong concluded: “Hong Kong, being located in a subtropical region, faces inherent limitations in developing winter sports. The encouraging results of our athletes at Milano Cortina 2026 testify to the steady development of Hong Kong’s ice and snow sports under the guidance of national policy.

“The support of the Government, as well as the unwavering efforts of athletes and their coaching teams, have also been instrumental.”

He expressed hope that their achievements would raise public awareness of winter sports in Hong Kong, inspiring more young people to take part. He also encouraged the athletes to build on the valuable experience gained at the Winter Olympics, continue to take on greater challenges and strive for excellence.
