Colombo, Sri Lanka, April 28, 2020: The six athletes from Sri Lanka who sat for the GCE Ordinary Level examinations while taking part at the South Asian Games in Nepal last December have all passed with flying colours.

The six, all female and who all won medals at the South Asian Games, capped off their athletic feats with stellar educational performances when the country’s O-Level results were announced on Monday, April 27.

The six are: fencers Chathuni Karunarathna (9 grade As) and Chamodi Karunarathna (8As, 1B); tennis player Alana Seneviratne (7As, 2Bs); table tennis player Ayla Chitty (5As, 2Bs, 2Cs); squash player Yeheni Kuruppu (4A, 4B, 1C); and swimmer Ganga Senavirathna (4As, 2Bs, 2Cs).

“Best wishes to the girls and our heartfelt appreciations to all who have supported us for this great success,” the Sri Lanka National Olympic Committee said on its Facebook page.

The Sri Lanka NOC ensured that the girls would be able to sit for the GCE O-Level exams in Kathmandu by taking two examiners from the Department of Examination and making arrangements that the exams were held at the Sri Lankan embassy in the Nepalese capital.
