Milan, Italy, February 10, 2026: Japan’s impressive start to the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games continued on Tuesday with a bronze medal in the mixed team normal hill HS107 ski jumping competition at Predazzo.

It was Japan’s first Olympic medal in the mixed team ski jumping competition, and their eighth medal overall at Milano Cortina. This tally comprises two gold (both in snowboarding), two silver (in figure skating and snowboarding) and four bronze medals (three in ski jumping and one in speed skating).

Slovenia, the defending Olympic champions, won the gold medal with a total score of 1069.2, followed by Norway with silver on 1038.3. Japan finished third with 1034.0 points. Euro powers Germany, Austria and Finland rounded out the top six. China finished eighth of 12 teams.

The mixed team competition involved two female and two male jumpers from each team, with two jumps each.

Japan’s bronze medal-winning athletes were Nozomi Maruyama, who had won bronze in the women’s individual normal hill, Ryoyu Kobayashi, Sara Takanashi and Ren Nikaido, bronze medallist in the men’s individual normal hill.

Also, it was a third Olympic medal for Kobayashi and a second for Takanashi after her individual bronze from PyeongChang 2018.

“It is better if you win as a team than individually. You enjoy it more,” Takanashi said.
