Nepal NOC briefs local media on Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games plans

Kathmandu, Nepal, February 8, 2026: The Nepal Olympic Committee organised an interactive programme with sports journalists to discuss their role in promoting the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games from September 19 to October 4.

 

Addressing participants, NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha emphasised that Nepal’s participation at the Asian Games must be achievement-oriented and that scholarships had been provided for selected athletes who will compete at the Games. 

 

“There is not much time left for the preparation of the Nepali team. The NOC is fully committed to providing all possible support,” President Shrestha noted.

 

He also stressed the importance and vital role of sports journalists in promoting the Asian Games and said special arrangements would be made to facilitate information sharing on the performance of the local athletes. He also expressed the NOC’s expectations of constructive cooperation from the media.

 

Journalists raised various questions and shared suggestions regarding Nepal’s preparations for the Asian Games.
